Ich bin ein Cybersquatter: First UDRP involving a dot .Berlin domain

Dot .Berlin ist gut.

Dot .Berlin ist gut.

When you give away domains for free, people will do stupid stuff – including registering trademarks.

This is the case with dot .Berlin, the geo-gTLD that had more than 60,000 free domains being registered.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. of Stamford, Connecticut filed a UDRP at the WIPO against the domain Westin.Berlin – the first UDRP we’re aware of, that involves the particular gTLD, dot .Berlin.

Westin is an established hotel brand, and as such, Andrew J. Park, the sole panelist, decided in favor of the Complainant.

The Respondent, Hyper Directory Inc. of Florida, did not bother to respond.
