Disaster strikes as NamesCon® scrambles to redesign thousands of items

Trademark domains aren't to play with.

NamesCon®: The trademark symbol must be used.

This could be potentially disastrous: NamesCon®, the biggest domain conference for the industry is mere days away from its January 11th reincarnation.

And yet, its officials must now start over, potentially redesigning thousands of items emblazoned with the NamesCon® logo.

So what’s the catch?

“We applied for the trademark in early 2014, and now that it has been registered, we have to somehow stick the ® onto every reference of ‘NamesCon’ – tshirts, banners, embroidered underwear, you name it!” said Jothan Frakes, conference organizer.

“It’s going to be nasty, we might as well give you a batch of printed ® symbol stickers, and some with velcro to do it yourself!” added Frakes, visibly dejected.

The good news is that the NamesCon® trademark registration with the USPTO is now official, as of December 14th.

Registered for “Arranging and conducting business conferences “, the NamesCon® trademark will permanently etch the domain conference’s brand onto the mind of thousands of consumers and domain professionals.

Congratulations to Richard Lau and everyone else working hard towards making it happen – see y’all in Vegas!
