Amazon announced WorkMail today, a hosted email service for corporations that aims at competing against Microsoft Office 365.
Presented as Amazon WorkMail, the service is a secure, managed email and calendaring solution that would also compete against similar Google offerings.
Naturally, Amazon secured AmazonWorkMail.com – a domain registered yesterday, according to DomainTools.
Unlike Microsoft that went after HoloLens.com for its Microsoft HoloLens product, Amazon does not own WorkMail.com.
The latter is a 19 year old domain registered to World Media Group, a famous portfolio holder of quality domain names.
Quite often, corporations utilize “proxy buyers” to acquire domain names; in the case of Amazon WorkMail it seems that they skipped getting WorkMail.com, at least for now.
