The former operator of MyRedBook.com, a web site that was seized by the FBI for assisting in the facilitation of prostitution, was sentenced to 13 months in prison.
According to U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag, Eric Omuro’s conviction is the first federal conviction of a website operator for facilitating prostitution.
The Northern California resident pleaded guilty in December, and agreed to forfeit $1.28 million dollars in cash and property, along with the domain names MyRedBook.com and sfRedBook.com.
More than 50 juveniles were identified by the FBI as advertising for prostitution services, according to an affidavit that was submitted during the sentencing hearing.
