June 4th marks the anniversary of a dark moment for humanity, and China.
The Tiananmen Square massacre staged students and unarmed civilians against the military sent by the Communist Party of China.
During the month-long uprising, up to 3,000 people died nationwide, and thousands more were injured in the clashes.
The iconic image of the student against the tank is a reminder of how brutal a government can be against its own people.
Fast forward 27 years later, the Chinese economy has propelled itself to the 2nd spot globally, but the ruling party’s display of westernized “Communist Capitalism” has changed very little in terms of authoritarianism.
