#Harrier .com : A 1992 #domain set to break #UDRP records in #Tata Motors filing

The domain name Harrier.com was registered in 1992, the pre-dawn of the commercial Internet.

It’s a generic dictionary word, and its current registrant listed it for sale on the Uniregistry Market.

Tata Motors of India, has filed a UDRP against the 26 year old domain, attempting to wrestle it away!

Yes, it’s incredible.

The reason: Tata Motors is launching a new car model, Tata Harrier, early in 2019. How would they present the case over a branded product trailing the domain’s registration by almost three decades, remains to be seen.

Tata Motors registered the domain TataHarrier.com in June of this year.

This UDRP sets a new record for the oldest domain challenged via the process, and we’ll be looking at it closely. None of the previous UDRP filings by Tata Motors involved a generic domain; all were related to “tata” products.

Hopefully the owners of Harrier.com will respond timely and via the use of a qualified domain attorney, that’d seek a finding of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking.

Toyota should definitely sue Tata, since Toyota Harrier car (JDM version of Lexus RX) exists since 1997.

    Few points:
    1. How is TATA Motors a “criminal” org?
    2. What verifiable data do you have to prove that most India corp are criminal organizations? If you can’t back up your claim with proof you are just a prejudiced individual.
