The Department of Justice has ordered the domain CoronaVirusMedicalKit.com to be shut down.
This direct order was highly justified, as the fraudulent content alleged the following:
“Due to the recent outbreak for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the World Health Organization is giving away vaccine kits. Just pay $4.95 for shipping.”
The domain’s Registrar, NameCheap, was ordered to take the domain offline. One would expect the standard Homeland Security or FBI warning page up there, but the domain no longer resolves.
The web site included fake customer quotes. According to Yahoo! News, lawsuits had been filed against the site operators, which claimed to sell vaccines for COVID-19.
