Coachlogix, Inc., operators of the domain Coaching.com, have applied for the registration of the mark COACHING.COM with the USPTO.
Coaching.com was registered in October 1995, making it one of the early domains that actually paid fees to be registered.
The COACHING.COM mark is being claimed for the following services:
A cloud-based platform as a service (PAAS) featuring computer software platforms for providing services to a consumer from a remote service provider via sharing of video content, namely, computer software platforms for allowing professionals to upload, post, and display online videos for sharing with consumers; a cloud-based platform as a service (PAAS) featuring computer software platforms connecting a database of service professionals to a database of service consumers and providing for the service consumers to engage the services of the service professionals, the service professionals to promote and offer services to the service consumers, and providing a payment gateway software for payment of the service professionals for services rendered; a cloud-based platform as a service (PAAS) featuring computer software platforms for sharing of video content between remote users.
The date of first use for the COACHING.COM mark is listed as January 15, 2021. There are no sales listed for the domain Coaching.com at NameBio.
Coaching.com was in the possession of The Ken Blanchard Companies until May 2020, when it was moved away from Network Solutions and to GoDaddy. We can safely assume that a sale took place at the time.
The rebranding of Coachlogix as Coaching.com took place in January 2021. Alex Pascal, founder and CEO of Coachlogix, is also the founder and CEO of Coaching.com.
Why was COACHING.COM applied for as a trademark at the USPTO?
Itβs an ongoing trend among owners of generic domain names, following the decision by SCOTUS on the Booking.com trademark application.
Since then, dozens of generic domain names have been applied to be registered as trademarks, inclusive of the TLD. We keep track of these applications, and so far none has been decided upon.
As of January 5th, 2021, BOOKING.COM is a registered trademark with the USPTO.
Will these applications become the new norm? Watch this video from NamesCon Online 2020.
