Registering the names of celebrities is not a practice that we recommend to domain investors.
Despite the good intentions behind the CaitlynJenner.com case, this type of activity is risky and can lead to a UDRP regardless of intentions.
Indeed, several pending UDRP cases involving the names of Kardashian and Jenner girls are currently handled by the WIPO and the National Arbitration Forum.
In particular, a UDRP was filed against the owner of the domain KhloeKardashian.com on June 30th. It was preceded by a filing against the owner of the domain KardashianBeauty.com on June 8th.
Not to be left out, Bruce Jenner’s (now Caitlyn Jenner) daughters’ names are also contested in two new UDRP cases at the WIPO, against the domains KendallJenner.com and KylieJenner.com respectively; the pair of UDRPs were filed on July 10th – yesterday.
All these cases are pending and there is no additional information.
A UDRP against the domain KimKardashian.com in 2008, resulted in the transfer of the domain.
