Wisconsin-based PESI, INC., operators of the domain Therapist.com, have filed an application for the registration of the matching mark, THERAPIST.COM.
The mark is applied for the following services:
Providing information about and making referrals in the field of rehabilitation, behavioral health, mental health, counseling, and therapy services; providing information about professionals in the field of rehabilitation, behavioral health, mental health, counseling, and therapy services.
Registered in 1995, the domain Therapist.com lists Jan. 24, 2022 as the date of first use of the mark in interstate commerce.

In the past, Therapist.com was used as a directory of therapist information and paid listings. Source: Archive.org. A listing for Therapist.com exists on Sedo, with a BIN price of $300,000 dollars. We are not sure whether this is an active or an outdated listing; there is no record of a sale at Namebio.
Why was THERAPIST.COM applied for as a trademark at the USPTO?
It’s an ongoing trend among owners of generic domain names, following the decision by SCOTUS on the Booking.com trademark application.
Since then, dozens of generic domain names have been applied to be registered as trademarks, inclusive of the TLD.
As of January 5th, 2021, BOOKING.COM is a registered trademark with the USPTO.
