The domain name BBit.com expired and dropped, eventually being auctioned off at DropCatch; after three days, it was sold for $9,250 dollars.
Why would such a premium domain as BBit.com be allowed to drop?

Based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 2B Interactive provided ERP and e-Business solutions to a large number of companies in the manufacturing industry, retail, and education markets since 1997.
The company’s official web site at 2binteractive.nl appears to have been down for a while. The 2B Interactive Group consisted of three business units: 2B Interactive, 2B BBIT, and 2B Education. 2B BBIT specialized in retail clients and used the domain BBit.com.
In 2009 2b Interactive was taken over by German company itelligence AG, operating from itelligence.ag. That domain is also down but still registered. Since April 1, 2021, itelligence has been operating as NTT DATA Business Solutions.

In a nutshell: After two lengthy rounds of corporate rebranding, it’s not surprising that an asset such as BBit.com was allowed to lapse. It’s not known if potential trademarks are still active.
