Blockchain-driven registrar, Spaceship, reaches 100k domain milestone

Spaceship, operating from the domain, launched a few months ago as a blockchain-driven sister company to Namecheap.

The beta rollout of the registrar was met with great enthusiasm by domain investors and it has just reached 100,000 domain names under management.

The company’s founder, Richard Kirkendall, has been optimistic about Spaceship’s future that is unique among domain registrars; it utilizes the blockchain ledger to record transactions and features a variety of apps to perform functions as needed, under one’s “launchpad.” has gone through an extensive advertising campaign that lowers the cost of most TLDs to very attractive levels. The company provides hosting options that arrive in attractively priced packaging.

Currently, domains that must be transferred out require manual intervention from the support; there are a couple of glitches that are being worked on but overall, is a great new addition to the list of ICANN-accredited registrars, with a unique back-end panel that requires some adjusting to.
