Since the Gulf oil spill started roughly 40 days ago, oil giant British Petroleum has been using increasingly more aggressive methods to combat the pipeline gush that has been leaking more than 15,000 barrels of oil into the sea, daily.
After the original attempts to place a huge metal enclosure over the cracked oil pipe failed, BP tried to pump junk such as golf balls and shredded tires into the leak.
That attempt also failed miserably, urging president Obama to utter the famous “plug the damn leak already” phrase.
Following the presidential outrage, BP is currently working with Adobe in order to improve the situation with a dramatic new set of tools. Fresh off the Adobe stable comes Photoshop CS5 which employs the brand new “content aware” fill.
“We thought that Adobe CS5 Suite with its content aware fill is the ultimate weapon in altering the situation in the Gulf”, said Bobbie Jo Farrel, chief marketing director for British Petroleum. “In particular, with Adobe Photoshop CS5 it’s remarkably easy to edit out the damaging photography shot by reporters in the Gulf. It is the full intention of BP to ensure that the cleaning mission of the oil spill will be 100% complete – the content aware fill will ensure this”, she added.
You can view the results of the Adobe CS5 content aware cleanup of the oil spill; a remarkable feat that British Petroleum now seeks to deploy in every location in the Gulf, effectively sanitizing the entire area at a fraction of the initial estimated cost.
Great job BP – awesome tool, Adobe!
