CentralNic announced that it has made available an RGP Restore Fee Waiver Program, in support of registrants facing financial or other difficulties due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The fee is paid when an expired domain is past its grace period, and the Registry imposes a restore fee that can be quite sizable – up to $250 dollars in some cases.
Here’s the announcement by CentralNic, sent out to select registrar partners:
RGP RESTORE FEE WAIVER PROGRAM
CentralNic is pleased to announce an RGP Restore Fee Waiver Program, designed to support registrants who are facing difficulties during the global Coronavirus pandemic. Working with our registry clients, we have developed a program that allows our registrars to waive the RGP Restore Fees that must be paid if a registrant cannot renew their domain before the end of the Auto-Renew Grace Period (typically 45 days after the domain expires).
All accredited CentralNic registrars are invited to join the program by completing the form at the bottom of this page.
We are very grateful to our registry partners (XYZ, Radix, Top Level Design and KKWT) for working with us on this program, which covers the following TLDs:
.baby .blog .college .design .fun .gay .host .ink .monster
.online .press .protection .pw .rent .security .site .space .storage
.store .tech .theatre .uno .website .wiki .xyzThe program will run for a three-month period initially until June 30th. At this time we will review with our partners to decide whether to extend the program for an additional three months.
