News of GoDaddy acquiring Dan.com broke earlier today, sending exchanges among domain investors into a frenzy.
Some cannot avoid referencing the acquisition of Uniregistry by GoDaddy in 2020, a transaction that stocked up NameFind with Frank Schilling’s domains and took the life out of the Uni Market.
Whether you like or you hate the acquisition of Dan.com by GoDaddy, one thing is certain: Some stupid people will register domains related to the event.
The domain DanGoDaddy.com was registered today, by a Chinese individual. Smartly, they chose the Alibaba registrar and hopefully they won’t list it for sale on Dan.com.
Even funnier is the registration of GoDaddyDan.com way back in 2014.
The domain hosts a blog by someone whose name is Dan, apparently, and a divorced dad with “lots of life experience,” who seems motivated by the “Go” prefix. GoDaddy might or might not leave Dan in peace.
Good luck, Dan.
