Domainer marathoner: Pushing the limits en route to success

Domain Shane is known for his Illinois plant nursery business, successful domain acquisitions and sales and last – but not least – his astounding endurance in 16 marathon races.

Amazing as it might seem, that’s a lot of mileage; the official marathon distance is 26.2 miles or 42,195 meters. The Greeks were crazy to have invented such a race distance, no wonder the Greek economy crashed and burnt.

Today, Shane is getting ready to race marathon #17, all while most domainers keep their butts glued to a computer chair.

We often wondered: What goes through Shane’s mind when running a marathon?

We picked some potential thoughts and are presenting them to you, tongue-in-cheek of course, at a mileage timeline fashion. 😀

Good luck with the race, Shane!

Shane Cultra gets ready for the Boston Marathon aiming for a personal best!

Shane Cultra at yet another marathon race.

Mile 1:
“Another day, another dollar. Did I schedule that NameJet list post for 4:40am or 5:40am? I remember hitting the submit button or was it the draft post button? Oh well.”

Mile 5:
“Have to trace the IP of the douche that keeps posting crap under the alias ‘Cookieboy’, I bet he’s from Indonesia or Sri Lanka. Jealous mofo!”

Mile 10:
“Doing good, doing good. Carbohydrates, miracle food. Hmm, carbohydrates, another keyword to add to my NameJet search list, I bet the global searches are high for this one, easy flipping.”

Mile 15:
“Must buy new shoes, my right toe is a bit tingly. Did I shove my foot up some domainer’s ass? LMAO. Will blog about that. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Doing good, buddy, doing good.”

Mile 17:
“About to break through the ‘wall’, positive thoughts, puppies and candy canes. Note to myself: review all domainers and rate them according to running habits, you’re no good if you don’t do a 10k at minimum. Epic post!”

Mile 20:
“Must return Elliot’s calls about how to add mulch to his yard. Yeah, some folks don’t know the basics. Ca-ching, 4 more sales gone through at NameJet, I’m the man!”

Mile 23:
“Doing great buddy, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. Did I shovel out the snow around the tool shed? Tool shed, great keyword, will have to check NameJet for that as well. Almost there now!”

Mile 26.2 and finish:
“That was better than I expected. Beat personal record, county record, state record and national record for my age group & domainer/plant grower class! And my proxy bids at NameJet got me 12 more LLLLL .com domains! Yeah, baby!”

😀

Ha. Thanks Acro. I’m about 6 months late but I’ll write the real thoughts in my head tonight while they’re fresh. It was a little hotter and sunnier than I like today. My goal was 3:13. I ran the first 20 miles at 7:10 and then the wheels fell off and ended up with a 3:15:57. I did my best and that’s good enough for me. I’m going to take off some weight this summer and watch my food for the first time ever. Maybe I’ll be able to hold on then. Now off to work to sell some plants. Could be a long day 🙂

Shane – Had no idea the race was already over 😀 Now off I go to my couch, this computer chair isn’t comfy enough.
