The PIR Registry, managers of .ORG domains, should be jubilant.
According to Hosterstats, there were 9,999,090 registered .ORG domains on July 1st, 2012.
With a month-to-month growth of over 30,000 .ORG domains, the 10 millionth .ORG domain has already been registered!
Originally used by organizations and non-profit corporations, .ORG domains are nowadays used by companies and individuals alike.
The PIR Registry raised prices on July 1st, by some weird coincidence! 😉
Congratulations to the PIR Registry for crossing the 10,000,000 milestone!

For sites that are primarily public service, I like to use .org as the address with a .com redirect.
I have done this with the AcademicDesk site.
I love .org!

Ms Domainer – That’s awesome. I wonder if you registered the 10 millionth .ORG 😀

Lucius,
If I did register the 10 millionth, would I get a prize?
