Malware activity monitor, SpamHaus, tracks the number of bad domains spewing out spam, for every TLD.
It then calculates a “badness ratio,” based on the number of registered domains among the domains seen, and it ranks the TLDs, creating “The World’s Most Abused TLD” list.
Last time we checked was in May, and dot .Science was on top.
For the month of July 2017, there are a few surprises, as dot .Study is now the world’s most abused TLD, with a badness index of 8.09 and 97.9% of its tracked domains serving spam or malware.
The top trio is completed with the participation of dot .GDN – a known spamming gTLD – and dot .Party.
