Someone has bid $60,000 on the web site 2012OfficialCountdown.com on Flippa and despite the seller’s monetary reputation, there is no proof that a prior chunky sale led to an actual domain exchange.
The web site 2012OfficialCountdown.com shows signs of increased traffic only since it was listed on Flippa, making it hard to prove that its natural type in traffic and search results are indeed true.
The seller claims more than $100k in gross revenue in 2011 but even if that were true, what are the chances of a buyer recouping their acquisition costs with less than a year remaining until the supposed end of the world?
The current bid of $60,000 seems very unlikely high; the seller asks for $80k as a BIN price.
And here lies the business paradox:
If the world ends in 2012, the buyer’s investment will go to waste. If the world does not end in 2012, the domain’s worth will be zero. Either way, a loss for the buyer. 😀
Another great Flippa deal!
