Domainers fighting it out on the Jerry Springer show
When I first watched Jerry Springer’s obnoxious guests pummel eachother on television for the first time, it was in the late 90’s.
The show was already 8 years old, quite old for a dog and pony presentation of anything from midgets to brother/sister/cousin erotic triangles, to unfaithful newlyweds punching their way to fame.
It’s amazing that tomorrow it will be the 20th anniversary of the Jerry Springer show and while the last 15 or so years belong to the commercialization of the Internet, not much has been achieved for the show via the web.
Alexa.com ratings for JerrySpringerTV.com display an average amount of traffic; the rating hovers at the 450,000 average for the past 3 months. For a web site that has been around since at least 2004, according to the WHOIS, that’s not great results.
Meanwhile, JerrySpringer.com appears to have been “squatted” upon since 1996 and it does not resolve. Clearly a lot of type-in traffic is being lost here.
Jerry Springer is now 66 years old and not quite the obnoxious TV show presenter he once was. While the Internet evolved, the show became a repeat of itself, with little more to offer than basic fun catering to those with a lot of time to kill and little interest in quality entertainment.
But isn’t that the portrait of the majority of Internet surfers anyway? 😀

Did you really have to report on Jerry Springer’s 20th year anniversary?
You’ve opened up some deep wounds.
It was on the Springer show that I learned that my sister who was also my wife had been having
a long time affair with my 3 brothers and my father.
Rubbing salt in my wounds, I also learned that day that none of the 5 children I was raising were
actually mine.

Tric – I hope you overcame the initial shock and that you were vindicated by the DNA results that overturned the validity of the Jerry Springer titles.
The reason his traffic is realatively low is because the majority of his fans don’t know how to spell
his name and I would guess many of them wouldn’t now how to turn a computer on.
