A domain investor with a large dot .Company portfolio claims that NamesCon Europe 2019 was an unsuccessful domain conference.
How did he come up to this conclusion?
Although he wasn’t attending the conference, he submitted a number of dot .Company domains to be included in the auction. None of these domains were accepted.
The Qatari domainer submitted almost 100 .Company domains to be included in the NameJet managed auction, in particular:

He believes that these domains are worth thousands of dollars a piece.
In our opinion, it’s a waste of money to register generic keywords with a “Company” extension, because a company’s brand and name are specific. Unless your corporate name includes the word “Company” of course.
Dot .Company is a Donuts new gTLD, and there are currently 64,000 domains in the .Company zonefile.

I don’t believe it’s useless to own a generic keyword followed by .company. Actually some of Almarri’s names are very great names and I believe they will do very well in the future. I’m not sure what happened with the whole thread though or how the conclusion was came to by him that the conference was unsuccessful as I haven’t been following it, but some of his names like Coffee.company, Energy.company and his one letter .company names are excellent names. Google has been utilizing X.company for over two years and it looks like it makes perfect sense to me. If you are an Energy.company owning that generic term would be extremely valuable. Look up the AdWords volume for it. There is some value there. It’s just a matter of opinion what extensions people like. I would not call NamesCon Europe unsuccessful though just because it didn’t have these names in it.
I’m looking forward to NamesCon Global 2020 in Austin. Hope to see you there Theo.
Excellent names are worth
Jason – These names are not only garbage, they are burning a hole in the guy’s pocket – some at premium prices. No, NamesCon Europe was not unsuccessful, it’s just that a guy with an agenda and shitty domains can’t understand the latter, so he attacked the conference’s organizers.
