In a thread over at DNForum where members are venting their frustration over extended downtime or other recurring issues with Moniker, one comment stuck out:
[…] what exactly is going on at Moniker ?… As I understand Oversee.net owns both SnapNames and Moniker, but why are the Moniker people MIA ? This simply fuels the speculation Moniker’s best days are now well behind it, and that this registrar is not even a shadow of what it used to be during that guy’s tenure (Monte) which was before my time […]
The comment is an apparent indication that a lot of domainers fail to keep up with the news: Oversee does not own Moniker or SnapNames; they are both a subsidiary of Luxemburg based, KeyDrive.
John Mauriello, whom we’ve found to be very active online and via phone inquiries, responded on behalf of Moniker, stating just that:
“Moniker and Snapnames have not been part of Oversee for over a year. We are now part of KeyDrive. Sam, Marti, and myself all work for Moniker.com and Snapnames.com.”
It’s embarrassing seeing how some domainers fail to stay updated with major events in our quite small industry. What’s next, Sex.com selling for $13 million dollars? 😯
