Overture was an once great keyword search tool, having formed in 2001 after GoTo.com renamed itself to Overture Services, Inc.
In the years that followed, Overture ‘swallowed’ both Altavista and AlltheWeb, and in 2003 it was itself acquired by Yahoo! for $1.63 billion dollars.
So what has happened to Overture.com ?
The domain is currently pointing to a non-existing Yahoo! service, that used to be found at the URL advertisingcentral.yahoo.com.
As this destination is no longer valid, the domain is non-resolving.
The new Yahoo! URL for advertising is advertising.yahoo.com.
It’s hard to believe, and yet Yahoo! is performing such bad domain asset management; also searchmarketing.yahoo.com is now obsolete.
