“Post Office” becomes a registered #trademark; is the matching .com #domain in danger?

The US Post Office has finally registered POST OFFICE with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO.)

The registration completed on April 18, 2018 for the following classes:

CLASS 35: RETAIL GIFT SHOPS
FIRST USE 00-00-1999; IN COMMERCE 00-00-1999

It seems that the date is arbitrary as no day and month are set. The US Post Office has been maintaining both online and physical retail shops within its offices for many years.

So is the domain PostOffice.com in danger, based on the “first use” claim on the POST OFFICE trademark?

Registered in 1994, PostOffice.com is an index of post offices around the world. As simple as that! 😀

It also contains a disclaimer at its bottom, disassociating itself from the US, Canadian and British post offices. The official US Post Office web site is at PostOffice.gov.

In 2001, the Registrant of PostOffice.com was hit with a UDRP, which was a win for the Respondent.

We can say with almost full certainty that the domain name PostOffice.com is not in danger, unless there are material changes and other issues in the future.
