In a private ceremony yesterday, domain king Rick Schwartz awarded the much coveted “Reverse Domain Hijacker” trophy to Brazilian entrepreneur, Márcio Mello Chaves, via Skype teleconferencing.
“There is no doubt about it”, said a misty eyed Rick Schwartz.
“This man has done so much for domainers, he clearly deserves to be recognized for his contribution to understanding the motives behind reverse domain hijacking. This is a lesson that money cannot buy”, added Rick, showing us a picture of the trophy.
Made of 925 gram sterling silver, the gold-plated trophy stands 18″ tall and is embossed with the name of the Brazilian whose UDRP for the domain name SaveMe.com re-wrote history.
“The trophy will be given by me personally to Márcio Mello when he takes a plane to visit us here in Florida during TRAFFIC. He’s welcome to come and be the poster boy of Reverse Domain Hijackers for TRAFFIC 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale. Free shrimp, cocktails and obviously, an educating bag of TRAFFIC goodies,” added Rick.
It is the first time that such a trophy will be awarded to a member outside of the closely-knit domainer community and a first for Brazil, hosts of the 2016 summer Olympics.
