The warning came in, loud and clear:
If you don’t pay to attend TRAFFIC in Ft. Lauderdale in October and attempt to sneak into the parties, get ready for a nasty surprise.
Rick Schwartz is known both for his humorous side and his serious side, and the Domain King never mixes those two together.
Rick Schwartz’s email promoting the TRAFFIC event – nowdays, *the* biggest domainer event since Domainfest is shrinking – wasn’t a joke:
Let it be common knowledge to those who plan on hanging around the hotel or crashing parties during T.R.A.F.F.I.C. without paying to attend like everyone else; to those who plan to benefit from our hard work and think that they can blend in with those who have paid the admission price to be there, we have a big surprise for you that will be announced at the show. So come in the front door and do business the RIGHT way or don’t come at all. Really.
So what exactly does Rick have in mind for those poor souls that might attempt to break the ethics of the domain game?
Here are a few good guesses about what would happen if you’re caught red-handed, sneaking in:
- Your pants will be pulled down to your ankles – the revealing ‘wiener’ mugshot will be published online.
- YourNameSucks will be registered and pointed to the TRAFFIC web site.
- You will be forced to consume all the remaining shrimp from the TRAFFIC buffet that was exposed for a full day to sneezing and hand-tossing.
- You will be stripped naked, blind-folded and turned into a pinata session for domainers. Great entertainment!
If, on the other hand, want to have a great time with the elite core of domainers – buy a TRAFFIC ticket, still at $1495 until July 1st.

seriously , is this text in the frame is from a real email rick had sent ?
John – Yes, it is.
Just hire the seal team 6
Just a bunch of chest beaters bragging about the domain names they own.
Park here and you will make more money.
Same old story. Look at all the .co domain name they own and they say don;t worry it wont take over. Then why are they buying these like crazy..
Anyone can build a parking company for domain names. Try developing something for change
BullS – That, or the TSA.
John #2 – I disagree, the TRAFFIC show has a lot to offer to the small, medium and established domainer.
Nothing for me but people with huge egos.
If you can excel in that context it is for you.
Steve – I’ll gladly play devil’s advocate; have you attended a single TRAFFIC conference in person?
Hahaha! Funny post, thank you for my first Monday AM chuckle 😉
With shrinking sales, decreasing parking revenues, who would be ready to pay:
$1500 for registration fee
$400 to stay in hotels
$400 for travel
Wake up guys! Would be interesting to see how many have registered up to June 20, 2011
Kelly – Thanks 😀
Truth Hurts – The truth is that they are all qualified business expenses. Are you into domaining as a hobby? Then yes, even gas is expensive.
