Right as we thought that it doesn’t get any crazier in the world of social media, Amazon and Twitter come along to prove us wrong.
A new joint feature of Twitter and Amazon allows people to find a tweet that contains an Amazon product and respond with the hashtag #AmazonCart, instantly adding it to their shopping cart.
This new example of blatant consumerism is yet another indication that social media is in fact an open bazaar of sorts, waiting its monetization.
In a similar move, Facebook announced that it will soon favor the interaction of apps, skipping the web and search engines as the middle-man, all while an upcoming release of the Chrome browser will hide the URL field from constant view.
