The Chinese domain market faced plenty of challenges in 2016 and this year, the Year of the Rooster, is hopefully going to be different.
Since the beginning of 2017, Yuan, China’s national currency, has been on a depreciation roller-coaster.
In China, the world’s 2nd largest economy, personal and national debt has skyrocketed, and the beginning of the new Chinese year is when a lot of consumer spending occurs, and cash gifts are given to family and friends.
Chinese domain investors that can afford holding off liquidating their assets will benefit, hopefully, from an upwards market change. Those who choose to sell now, flipping “Chinese premium” domains for minimal profit, or even loss, will at least be able to have cash in hand.
International politics, such as a Donald Trump presidency that seeks to expand trade ties with China, should stabilize China’s economy despite the weaker Yuan.
All this is speculation, of course, as we do not offer financial advice; simply analyzing the markets with an emphasis on domain trading.
