The domain name SexOlympics.com is covered in a shroud of mystery.
It has been pointed to adult content, or parked at adult parking pages for more than a decade, as Archive.org shows.
Originally registered in 2000, SexOlympics.com appears to be owned by the International Olympic Committee, according to Domaintools:
International Olympic Committe
chateau de vidy
Lausanne, Vaud 1007 CH
The domain has not changed ownership since 2003, as shown by the earliest WHOIS record stored with Domaintools.
Then who is benefiting from the adult parking ads?
It can’t be the Registrar, Directnic, because someone repointed the domain to a hosted page in 2006, as this archived page shows. The DNS wasn’t changed at the time.
Surely, someone is editing the A records on the DNS provided by the Registrar, so could it be that the WHOIS info is bogus?
Why would the International Olympic Committee hold onto an adult domain for more than 10 years?
So many questions – so little time. 😀
