Of course we love domains, domaining, domainers and the Domain Nation.
But on a Saturday night, beer would win over any domain. 😀
Here are a good 10 reasons why:
- You buy a sixpack of beer for the price of a dot com – especially if you use GoDaddy. For $10 you buy some really good Boston Lager such as Samuel Adams.
- You don’t need to develop, park or otherwise worry about what to do with beer. You drink it, either from the bottle or in a glass. Simple as that.
- Once you buy beer, you can keep it in the fridge for days, weeks and months. It won’t expire and you don’t need to renew it.
- There is only a small number of valuable TLDs – there is an almost infinite variety of beer for all tastes.
- Want Chinese beer? Try Tsingtao from your local store – for .CN domains you need to run a business in mainland China!
- Women that drink beer have silky smooth hair and bigger breasts. Women domainers with silky smooth hair and big breasts are a rarity. Ahem.
- Noone will try to sue you at the WIPO for buying the last sixpack of their favorite beer. If you get it first, it’s yours – no UDRP will reclaim it.
- After a couple of beers, even the worst long-tail domains have potential. But even the best domain in the world won’t give you a craving for beer. Makes sense?
- Like chocolate, beer can be a prelude to great sex. On the other hand, registering domains can often lead to divorce due to ensuing arguments.
- You can recycle – and you should – the empty beer bottles and cans. But you can’t recycle domains. So be earth-friendly: drink more beer.
here in Canada you can get two .coms for the price of six beer 🙁
Of course beer is much grater than domains. For example: if I like beer Red I can drink it with my friends, with my girlfriend and I can buy it for everybody again and again. If I like domain name red.com I can buy it only once. So beer is much better than domain :))
1. You can recycle domains.. Buy pigeon s* and wrap it as thebestdomainonearthyouwillleversee.com
2. how dare you put chocolate and beer in the same sentence?! It like having cereal and OJ together..
3. Why compare beer and domains?? Just have them both. Go buy beer.com..
4. Actually you can get Beer.mx for $4999. Mexico is known for its beer & parties, in
addition to having some of the biggest Brewers around.
5. I hope its OK to promote Mexican beer 😉
Beer cannot be resold with for a profit, and if you know how to trade, you can get a better woman. very silly. Still like your blog though.
While it is true that beer cannot be resold for a profit, my domain name buying/selling negotiation skills go up tenfold after enjoying a few quality craft beers (as does my Halo game). Up to a certain point, anyway…the Ballmer Peak theory in full effect.
As for chocolate and beer not belonging in the same sentence…I call blasphemy! Many craft brewery stouts and porters these days are heavy on the chocolate…perfect for those of us in the cold states. Check out O’Fallon Brewery’s Cherry Chocolate Beer (http://www.ofallonbrewery.com/products/index.html). It tastes kind of like a cherry tootsie pop, so it’s not one that I’m fond of, but is a nice treat for the ladies on Valentine’s Day.
Absolutely love the domaining/beer post…can you remember the beer you were consuming when you wrote it?
