Fake interpreter: GoDaddy holds the key to the identity of ‘SA Interpreters’

Fake interpreter alleges to have seen ‘angels’ during the Nelson Mandela funeral.

The so-called “fake interpreter” scandal appears to be humorous at times, despite the serious implications that Thamsanqa Jantjie is facing.

The 34-year old man from South Africa faked his way through five hours of sign language, supposedly translating the speeches of world leaders during Nelson Mandela’s funeral.

When asked about his actions, the “fake interpreter” stated that due to a sickness, he saw “angels that took control of his mind;” yet, he remained in place to do his ‘duty’ despite that divine intervention.

Thamsanqa Jantjie was allegedly hired by a company called “SA Interpreters” and they might be a key player in this scandal – if only it weren’t for their use of WHOIS privacy at GoDaddy.

The domain name SAInterpreters.com is under construction since its registration at the end of October, and its state clearly denotes an unfinished job on a WordPress theme template.

According to DomainTools, the following domain names are also hosted on the same IP:

  • sainterpreter.co.za
  • sainterpreter.com
  • satradeandtravel.com
  • satranslator.co.za
  • satranslator.com

They are all pointing to the same under construction template as the main web site, SAInterpreters.com.

Could these domain names and their owner(s) hold the key to answers about who hired the man best known as the “fake interpreter”?

GoDaddy definitely knows.
