During the entire 2014, domain theft increased to numbers unseen before, thanks to an ICANN imposed requirement for ownership verification.
The Registrars rushed to comply, falling victims to a flood of email phishing originating mostly from China.
Rogue domain registrars make life difficult to domain owners whose domains were stolen; although, there has been a change of pace recently, with the return of several numeric domains via the filing of a lawsuit.
The real perpetrators, however, cyberthieves and vagabonds hiding behind a network that cannot be easily accessed by the US authorities or the FBI, get away scot-free.
Therefore, we declare February 1st, 2015 as the first National Punch a Domain Thief Day, in order to warn those criminals that they will be found and brought to justice.
