While I just lost a bet that DomainGang can’t refrain from posting the name of the Domain King for 30 days, it’s for a good cause.
Rick’s dead on about trolls and anonymous cowards on the Internet and forums. Since the era of Usenet and Newsgroups, trolling is an art that reveals many aspects of human personality.
Consider for example this comment someone left here anonymously – the sender is from the UK:
All domainers are total scum,
Utterly worthless parasites of the internet.
You have no skill other than trying to ransom somthing on the basis that ‘i got it first’.I hope fair use laws are passed to prevent domains being dormant.
Scum!
While I understand the frustrations of people that were either born after the Internet started or were sucking on their mother’s teat when Rick Schwartz saw the great domaining opportunity, it is truly sad to receive comments of this kind. It’s like people being angry about the size of their penis, just because others have a bigger, longer and uncut one.
The confused association of domain investing with cybersquatting is still evident, because there is no clear line between domain investing and trademark violations. There is no education coming down from the top. It’s been either withheld from the masses, or it’s offered at a premium.
Ignorance is not an excuse, however.
Those that bitch and complain about someone else’s achievements deserve nothing but scorn and public humiliation. There is no room for idiots in any industry.
At least, if domainers are called ‘scum’ we might as well give justice to the name.
