Top domain marketplace, Sedo, is closed today Monday; something that might surprise many a hardworking domainer.
Sedo is, however, a German company and as such the German tradition of observing Monday after Easter – also known as Ostermontag – as a holiday, is passed onto the American headquarters.
Now that’s what we’d call a healthy corporate culture 😀
In other words, don’t bother calling Sedo tech support today as they are spending time at home with family, or visiting parks, or eating seafood and chocolate Easter eggs.
Today also marks the day of the annual Boston Marathon!
Edit: As this post was, essentially, a gaffe, the 100% image had to be removed. Thanks to Shane for identifying the real reason Sedo offices are closed. 😀
Well, today is Easter Monday in Greece, Russia and other Eastern Orthodox countries 😀 So it might be due to the Boston Marathon that Sedo is closed, after all 😀
Today is Patriots day which is celebrated heavily by Boston and the surrounding communities. And yes it is celebrated with the Boston Marathon as well. This is the reason they are closed. Most businesses are today in Boston.
Shane – Are you running at the Boston race this year? 🙂
Fortunately I am running the Illinois marathon in 2 weeks. That heat would have killed me. My friends are getting whooped today by the temperatures. Saved me a $2K trip to run a terrible time
and by the way: here in Germany we celebrated Easter Monday LAST week!
Shane, I read about heat/humidity at Boston being pretty bad to the point of many reconsidering their participation. Good luck at Illinois!
Dietmar – Here at DomainGang we observe the Eastern Orthodox Easter timetable. At least, that’s the best way to avoid admitting today’s *ahem* gaffe 😀
Easter Monday was one week ago (the next day following the Easter Sunday) in France and everywhere that celebrate it I guess and not today.
