Domain names are getting stolen more often than what you think.

A domain and business owner describes his domain saga, involving GoDaddy and domain hackers from Russia and Ukraine.

The latter, tried to extort the owner asking for a sizable ransom of $24,000 to be paid in exchange for four profitable domains:

  • Anglotopia.net
  • Londontopia.net
  • Aussietopia.net
  • BudgetBritainGuide.com

By accessing the Gmail account managing the domains at GoDaddy, the hackers were able to hold the domains hostage, until the legitimate owner hired an attorney, filed a UDRP and won! 😀

    Jonathan – You’re welcome. It’s refreshing seeing that you didn’t give in to the thieves and that you won the UDRP. The same thieves stole and kept other domains temporarily, such as Amsterdam.info and Forum.biz.
