Rick’s blog switched to WordPress!

Rick's on WordPress, finally.

Rick’s on WordPress, finally.

It took Rick Schwartz a good six years to switch over from Typepadan archaic and limited blogging platform – to WordPress, but the transition appears to have been completed in a smooth manner.

The Domain King’s announcement of a blog arrived on April 3rd, 2007 – the title was Domain King announces Blog, and it measured 780 pixels wide.

Times have changed, and while currently the blog is using the same old skin/theme, the page is a much wider 1024 pixels.

More eRealestate, if you get the pun. 😉

WordPress has its challenges; for starters, it is a heavier platform that requires some fine-tuning and database optimization, especially if lots of images are being served. The admin page must be locked behind a password-protected area, to avoid brute force attacks.

Blogs running WordPress are highly customizable and able to display dynamic content, via the use of widgets and plugins. The overall visuals can be altered to suit the taste of their owner or target audience.

We’re looking forward to seeing a tasteful change in the theme, that Rick’s Blog will be using for years to come. 😀

Welcome to WordPress, Rick!

    Thanks!
Has not been an easy process.
Still can’t figure out why not posting to normal outlets like domaining.com etc.

hi Rick, I left a comment at your Test Post 3 but I am not sure if it made it through.

In essence, your feeds are working, see:

Check out the obvious first: contact the aggregators (domaining/domainsville/namebee) to see if your RSS feed is per above; Typepad uses a different structure.

If that didn’t work, change the theme temporarily to the default, make a post and see if that makes a difference. The conversion over from Typepad might prevent the old theme to function as needed.
