You’ve probably heard about the mass registration of 7500 dot .Club domains by a single registrant; while impressive, this number pales in comparison to the recent registration of several dot .Tattoo domains.
“We have a very demanding customer from Japan, and there are now an extra 45,000 dot .tattoo domains in the zone files,” said Frank Schilling of Uniregistry.
“The number will grow further, once all these domains get allocated and the customer’s members increase – it’s a very well known group in Japan,” added Schilling, with a cryptic smile.
From our research, the dot .tattoo domains that were registered en masse for the unnamed Japanese customer of Uniregistry, all bear the address of a strip club in Tokyo, famous for its affiliation to the Yakuza.
The Yakuza is an underground club that is famous for its members’ missing pinkies, and tattoo-covered bodies.
In Japan, tattoos are very popular among men, as they depict a macho lifestyle, denoting affiliation to the powerful Yakuza organization.
With more than 45,000 new dot .tattoo registrations, it seems that Uniregistry will be taking the lead from Donuts, Inc. pretty soon.
