It was a simple recipe: Tens of thousands of dollars in advertising revenue were made, by using the simple formula of attaching a downloader or a toolbar to a piece of software, then distributing the lot to make money from ads.
Such combo downloads that are not managed by the original source of the software are now banned by Google AdWords.
As mentioned at the latest report by BrandVerity, a Seattle, Washington company that provides services that detect online brand and trademark abuse, the practice has been eliminated by Google.
The latter now only permits advertisers to link to the primary distribution source of software; a great thing for consumer, and brands.
