GoDaddy has given up its custom-made captcha system, used for the WHOIS queries page.
After years of using a proprietary system to confirm the function is performed by a human, and not by “unscrupulous spammers,” GoDaddy moved to reCaptcha.
The system is widely used by many companies, including DomainTools.
There is, however, a small problem: the WHOIS URL has now changed.
The old address that looked like http://who.godaddy.com/whoischeck.aspx?domain=example.com now returns a 404 error, and many systems that tap into this query URL are now broken.

Let’s hope that something will be done soon.
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll forward to the appropriate team.
Thanks Paul! 🙂
