Uniregistry and XYZ : Numbers, numbers, numbers for $0.88 a pop

Uniregistry

Uniregistry is among the domain registrars participating in an unprecedented promotion by the XYZ Registry.

In a nutshell: 1.111 billion numeric .XYZ domains are being released, and Uniregistry will be offering them for $0.88 dollars.

If you’re in the market for numeric domains, now’s your chance to tap into this particular niche.

The full press release by Uniregistry follows, signed by Frank Schilling:

A note from our founder: A new paradigm of innovation with XYZ

If someone told you in 2010 to buy $100 worth of Bitcoin, would you have done it?

Today, I am happy to share one of the most exciting pieces of news for our industry since the gTLD program was announced nearly one decade ago. To foster innovation and creativity on the Internet, Uniregistry will now offer 1.111 billion .xyz domains for just $0.99 per year to register, renew, and transfer. These domains, coined the 1.111B Class, include all 6-digit, 7-digit, 8-digit, and 9-digit numeric .xyz domains between 000000.xyz and 999999999.xyz.

But that’s not all, to celebrate our partnership with .xyz, customers can register and renew their favorite 1.111B Class domain names at Uniregistry for only $0.88 in our Early Bird sale from May 31 – November 10, 2017.

The 1.111B Class is the first-of-its-kind platform to encourage utilization of domains for nontraditional purposes. Nominal overhead costs allow businesses and entrepreneurs to affordably register blocks of .xyz domains (e.g. everything between 1230000.xyz – 1239999.xyz or all dates between 01012018.xyz – 12312018.xyz), which can then be paired with Internet of Things (IoT) device serial numbers, used as vanity addresses for system networks, matched to phone numbers or identification numbers, traded as digital currencies, or repurposed for any other type of creative function.

The 1.111B Class is a truly innovative solution to the needs that have emerged from new technologies on the Internet. To see the level of pent-up demand for affordable vanity identifiers, look no further than IPv4. In 2011, all 4.3 billion IPv4 addresses (such as 192.168.0.1) were exhausted.(1) As recently as May 2017, a /22 block (1,024 IPv4 addresses) sold in the aftermarket for $13,824 USD(2) – that’s $13.50 per address that used to be free! To register a similar block in the 1.111B Class today would cost less than 10% of that!

According to Yahoo! Finance, $100 worth of Bitcoin 7 years ago is now worth over $70 million(3) due to the scarcity of the currency today. At the time of this writing, 99% of 1.111B Class .xyz domains are still available. And to make mining for the best domains easier, .xyz has developed a powerful free search tool to download available patterns and blocks that you can bulk register at Uniregistry.

There are a myriad of uses for low cost domain registrations and I am certain the creative minds of our customers will find ways to put these permanently low cost assets to use. There is no reward without risk and fortune favors the bold. Invest responsibly, and good luck to you!

Sincerely,
Frank

  1. LOL says:

With the hype given by Daniel, I expected something like flat $5 renewal for all domains now and in future. This $1 numeric renewal is ZzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzz.. pusssssss

  2. Richard says:

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice…
Chinese won’t fall for this pump and dump again. They learned their lesson last year already.

  3. DomainGang says:

Richard – More details about last year’s lesson. Which TLD was it?

  4. Richard says:

    .XYZ of course.
    The June 2016 promotion.

  5. DomainGang says:

Richard – Last year’s .XYZ promo wasn’t targeting the Chinese. Did you miss the .WS numeric domain fiasco? Now that’s a case that reeks of “pump and dump.”

  6. Richard says:

No I did not miss that.. Of course last years promotion was also targeting China. 3 million .xyz were registered during that promotion, where do you think most of them ended up? And this years promo with the $0.88 price tag is also targeting them. I won’t talk about the insult comparing BTC with .XYZ domains though. Others did that already.

  7. DomainGang says:

Richard – As far as I know, XYZ is not authorized to sell domains in China since the beginning of May. So according to your logic, any heavily discounted domain targets China? Verisign did the same with .com and .net recently. I don’t see China being a target unless the domains are numeric. The entire concept of numeric domains as a vessel of funds has already popped. Look where the LLLL “chips” are at currently, even LLL .com domains are dropping in value.

Bottom line: whatever works for you.

  8. Richard says:

It’s a promotion that promotes 1.111B numeric domains… Who was behind the whole numeric hype during the last years? Switzerland? No.. China. Promo price is $0.88. Why? Swiss lucky numbers? No. Chinese lucky numbers.

I am sure this dance and gymnastics will not help 1.111B promo

  10. DomainGang says:

Richard – The promo is for $0.99 by the XYZ Registry. Uniregistry prices all their domains ending in *88 as far as I know.

Promos are done by any Registry and every gTLD or TLD. If Negari thinks he can make money out of it, that’s his prerogative.

Nobody forces you to buy XYZ – or BTC for all I care.

  11. Richard says:

Of course no one is forcing me to buy anything, but that is hardly the point…
I was just making a point that this promotion is targeting the Chinese market and that I am quite confident that they won’t fall for this kind of promotion again. Just my 2 cents. We’ll see how it plays out.

  12. DomainGang says:

Richard – AFAIK, XYZ is not back to China yet. So while your argument uses a common sense approach, it might not be the case.

  13. Richard says:

So what you’re saying is that a Chinese with a Uniregistry account is unable to register any .XYZ domains at the moment?

  14. DomainGang says:

Richard – Or GoDaddy, Name.com etc. This is not an exclusive promo. I’ve asked Negari to confirm.

  15. Richard says:

Can existing Chinese owners renew their XYZ domains then?

  16. DomainGang says:

    Richard – No idea.

  17. Consider the numeric market is not what it was a year or two ago and then decide I suggest

this is all Donald Trump’s fault…
