We’ve been following the massive Equifax data breach scandal closely; after the news was announced, dozens of related “Equifax domains” were registered.
Some are in the hands of Equifax to protect its brand, but others are used as potential phishing tools. It’s understandable that many consumers in the US are anxious to secure their information and might fall prey to such attacks.
The most creative domain name we’ve seen so far is Equifucked.com.
It displays a video with sheep roaming aroun, urging consumers to not surrender their information to Equifax voluntarily:
STOP GIVING THEM MORE DATA!
They have already demonstrated that they can’t guarantee the security of your Personally Identifiable Information.Digital Security Experts will tell you that the worst thing you can do is VOLUNTARILY enter your information into any website owned or operated by the same entity that was just exploited.
It really makes sense, but it’s already too late.
Consumers should consider putting a freeze on all four credit bureaus to lock their own ability to open new lines of credit.
