Out of the #blue : #Domain veteran hit with his first ever #UDRP

Domain veteran, Bill Karamouzis, is focused on entrepreneurship and generic domain investments.

The Canadian domain investor announced that he was threatened with his first ever UDRP notice, for a new gTLD domain that is definitely generic: Blue.app.

Bill Kara’s tweet marveled at the fact that the color is being claimed via the UDRP process, by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The healthcare giant does not own Blue.com or BlueApp.com so why was Karamouzis targeted for his domain name?

Said Karamouzis:

“I keep a very clean list of generic names. First threat I’ve ever had actually. I’m going to repurpose kissmyass.com with their mug shots once I speak to a lawyer.”

We hope that a capable IP attorney will help Bill Kara show the healthcare behemoth they can’t be bullying generic domain owners around.

Note: Article has been corrected to reflect that so far it’s a threat to take the matter to the UDRP process, and not an actual filing.
