UDE.com sells for $23k – Blast from the past revealed!

UDE.com was just sold at Latonas.com

It seems that Rick Latona’s promotion of the UDE.com domain auction paid off handsomely: the domain UDE.com – a former trading card portal with up to $20 daily revenue – was sold at Latonas.com

The price: $23,000 or about 3 years of estimated revenue. A top quality LLL .com that has seen quite busy days in its past.

Indeed, the Wayback Machine of Archive.org shows that in April 2003, UDE.com first became an active web site for Upper Deck Entertainment:

… the place to be for all the hottest new collectible card games and trading cards! […] For years, Upper Deck has been hailed as the industry leader in quality sports cards and collectibles, and now you can expect the same level of excellence in the full line of Upper Deck Entertainment products. Get ‘em now, and get in the game!

Apparently, UDE.com was in use until recently, when it was parked in order to attain a monetization estimate of its roughly 4,500 visitors – according to Rick Latona, it has only been parked for a week at Sedo.

And finally, a shocking revelation: Going even further back to 1999, Archive.org displays this captured page of UDE.com – which is remarkable for what it contains.

2 letter .COM domains start at $8,500.00 USD
3 letter .COM domains start at $5,000.00 USD
4 letter .COM domains start at $4,000.00 USD
2 letter .NET & .ORG domains start at $6,000.00 USD
3 letter .NET & .ORG domains start at $4,000.00 USD
4 letter .NET & .ORG domains start at $3,000.00 USD
Full word names start at $8,000.00 USD and go up depending on the name.

Of all these items, one has a particularly big WOW factor: Pricing for 2 letter .COM domains is as low as $8,500!

No matter how bad the economy has been, 2 letter .COM domains rarely drop below six figures. If only we could ride on a a time machine to 1999 and purchase a few, that’d be a blast! 😀

    Great sale.

It’s funny how I just finished seeing Hot Tub Time Machine. And came online and saw your post.
