SnowCart.com: Former #BuyDomains asset applies for #trademark registration

Snowcart LLC, operators of the domain SnowCart.com, have applied for the registration of the matching trademark, SNOWCART.COM, at the USPTO.

The “intent to use” application was filed for the following services:

Downloadable software for arranging the transport and delivery of goods

Transport and delivery of goods

The mark is applied for a stylized design, as opposed to a text mark:

The mark consists of a design of a shopping cart above the wording “SNOWCART” including a design of a shopping cart inside the letter “o” and the wording “.COM” on the side of the “T” and positioned vertically, all inside a square having rounded corners.

It’s interesting to note that the domain SnowCart.com was sold by BuyDomains in late 2019 for only $2,488 dollars. Source: NameBio.

Why was SNOWCART.COM applied for as a trademark at the USPTO?

It’s an ongoing trend among owners of generic domain names, following the decision by SCOTUS on the Booking.com trademark application.

Since then, dozens of generic domain names have been applied to be registered as trademarks, inclusive of the TLD. We keep track of these applications, and so far none has been decided upon.

As of January 5th, 2021, BOOKING.COM is a registered trademark with the USPTO.

Will these applications become the new norm? Watch this video from NamesCon Online 2020.
