The Tron movie came out in 1982 and unleashed itself onto an unsuspected crowd of teenagers. The first commercial personal computer had been released less than a year earlier by IBM.
Starring Jeff Bridges, Tron went on to become a milestone of the movie industry, the first to incorporate computer-generated sequences combined with real actors.
In the 28 years that have passed since then, the Tron movie acquired cult status, among its old fans and those that were added along the way.
One of these fans, Jay Maynard, is known among the Tron fan circles as “the Tron guy“.
Jay is famous for being an uber-geek who has no qualms about posing in body suits he designed and modeled after the original Tron outfits and sporting them on camera and at various conventions.
With the recent production of the Tron sequel, “Tron: Legacy” that takes place at an era when computers are fully mainstream, Jay the Tron guy has seen his web site traffic skyrocket due to related searches.
The self-employed computer consultant from Minnesota is capitalizing on his appreciation of the original Tron movie and of course the current craze over the Tron sequel; the latter looks extremely well-produced.
