The operators of the domain name Wrenching.com have filed for the matching mark’s registration with the USPTO.
A fresh application for WRENCHING.COM cites February 2023 as the date of first use of the mark in interstate commerce, for the following products/services:
Footwear; Hats; Headwear; Shirts; Bottoms as clothing; Tops as clothing
The application also describes an “intent to use” (Section 1(b)) class for the same mark:
Providing a searchable online advertising website and informational guide featuring the goods and services of other vendors via the internet in the field of auto repair; Providing a website featuring on-line classified advertisements; Providing an on-line searchable database featuring employment opportunities and content about employment
Registered in 2004, the domain name Wrenching.com appears to have been acquired from Namefind‘s inventory at the end of February.
Namefind is the domain portfolio arm of GoDaddy-owned domains. The domain Wrenching.com was in the possession of Frank Schilling and was part of the sale of Uniregistry to GoDaddy.
There are no records of the domain’s selling price on NameBio.
Applying for the registration of matching marks is an ongoing trend among owners of generic domain names, following the decision by SCOTUS on the Booking.com trademark application.
Since then, dozens of generic domain names have been applied to be registered as trademarks, inclusive of the TLD.
As of January 5th, 2021, BOOKING.COM is a registered trademark with the USPTO.
