According to Wikipedia, the term was coined in 1979 to describe women that are overweight or obese, aka “Rubenesque” – which are then called “Big Beautiful Women“.
In an era of political correctness, one cannot call things by their name, it seems.
At any rate, BBW.com is not about pounds of flesh, thank God.
BBW.com forwards to the web site of Bath and Body Works – an Ohio based company catering to the women that take care of themselves and their beauty: there’s skin and hair creams, body lotions, fragrances and exotic oils – and of course silly priced “gourmet” candles.
