Florida-based Attire.com LLC has applied for the registration of the matching mark ATTIRE.COM with the USPTO.
The intent to use application cites the following products and services as related to the mark:
Online retail store services featuring a wide variety of consumer goods, clothing, and jewelry.
About a decade ago, the domain Attire.com was available for sale via its owner at the time, Francine Fiesel of iDomain. It was brokered by Todd Reum of Category Defining Domains; eventually, the domain was sold around April 2012. There is no record of the sale’s particulars on NameBio.
From the looks of it, Attire.com – a domain registered in 1998 – is currently under development.
Why was ATTIRE.COM applied for as a trademark at the USPTO?
Itβs an ongoing trend among owners of generic domain names, following the decision by SCOTUS on the Booking.com trademark application.
Since then, dozens of generic domain names have been applied to be registered as trademarks, inclusive of the TLD. We keep track of these applications, and so far none has been decided upon.
As of January 5th, 2021, BOOKING.COM is a registered trademark with the USPTO.
Will these applications become the new norm? Watch this video from NamesCon Online 2020.
