A domainer with the ability to remember the registration date of thousands of domain names, without the constant use of DomainTools, showed up at NamesCon today.
Buddy “Ray” Jabbit, a 27 year old savant from California, made it to hotel Tropicana in Las Vegas, after driving for 11 hours – far too late to attend the #1 domain conference of 2014.
“Not my day. I’m sad. But I’m an excellent domainer. Domainer.com was registered on April 7, 2002. It was a Sunday. I’m an excellent, excellent domainer!” exclaimed Buddy Ray, who started looking up the WHOIS info of domains when he was 18.
Nine years later, Jabbit can recall the registration date of 486,127 domain names and his recollection of domains expands daily, by using DomainTools to look up the WHOIS information, just once per domain.
“Wanted to meet DomainTools CEO. He’s an excellent CEO. I remember all domain data and thank him for the tool, it’s an excellent tool, I use it, it is fun, very fun.” said Buddy Ray Jabbit, clearly disappointed by the miscalculation of his trip.
Jabbit’s favorite domains are .com, .net and .org; the anticipated expansion of the domain name space will more than quadruple this number.
“I like gTLDs. But only nic.sexy sounds good. September 16, 2013. It was a Monday,” says Buddy Ray Jabbit, who has been invited to the Caymans, as a number-crunching assistant to Frank Schilling’s Uniregistry.
Buddy Ray plans to attend NamesCon next year. It will be on a Monday.
