Name.com Launches New, Improved API – New RESTful API enables developers and resellers to leverage Name.com’s backend tools more efficiently and programmatically

DENVER, CO — January 31, 2018 — Name.com, a leading domain name registrar and website solutions provider, today announced general availability of Version 4 of its API, or Application Programming Interface.

Name.com has offered an API for the past seven years, and user response has been enthusiastic, resulting in three additional updates. Version 4 brings yet another leap forward in usability and simplicity.

“We wanted a cleaner, simpler experience for users to leverage domains and DNS functionality,” said Dave McBreen, Name.com lead developer. “We’ve enlisted the whole company to make our API more functional and user-friendly, and I think we’ve succeeded.”

Version 4 of the API is much faster and easier to use; as a RESTful API, it can be employed by any modern programming language, enabling all kinds of developers to leverage its capabilities. The new interface also features improved documentation and convenient code samples that can be copied and pasted directly into work-in-process, to save time and increase developer efficiency.

“We did a competitive analysis, listened carefully to our customers, and then built V4 based on their (and our own) best practices,” said Patrick Ramsey, senior DevOps engineer. “As developers ourselves, we were able to design V4 in a way that directly benefits developers.”

Independent domain sellers use the V4 API to integrate Name.com’s domain search features with their own pages. This means anyone can employ it to register, renew, and manage domains, as well as implement website redirects and email forwarding.

To celebrate the V4 API launch, Name.com will host APIzza Party at its downtown Denver offices, 414 14th Street, on February 8, 2018 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Local journalists, bloggers, and tech contributors are invited to join us, and the global community can tune in from around the world for a webinar on how we use APIs every day. The presentation will be broadcast via Facebook Live at Facebook.com/Namedotcom, with Q&A available for both local and remote guests.
